Meet the Director
Maestro Adam Hooper is the newly appointed Music Director of the Don Thompson Chorale in Jacksonville, FL. He recently earned his Masters in Choral Conducting under Dr. Cara Tasher at the University of North Florida. As the program assistant he conducted two virtual opera choruses, recorded his own mixed choral arrangement of Mozart’s Das Veilchen, and premiered his modern masterwork arrangement of Vivaldi’s Gloria for SSA treble chorus with contemporary instrumentation.
Adam also serves as the full time Instrumental Director at Westside Baptist Church where he leads the generational orchestra and jazz band. Donning many hats, he is known to lead the orchestra from the piano, play the synth pads, conduct the choir and orchestra, and give musical direction on and off the podium. He believes that everyone’s voice is a most intimate instrument, a gift from God.

"I am thrilled to be working with The Don Thompson Chorale. Our path forward is going to be one of baby-steps ensuring a strong foundation of organizational tenets, healthy membership, and quality music designed to bring joy and hope to all audiences.
When I'm asked about the Don Thompson Chorale by those who are not familiar with our membership, I am always in awe of the fact that more than 50% of our current singers are loyal members, having sung under Don Thompson more than two decades ago. That speaks volumes of the passion and loyalty feeding this excellent choral tradition, and attracts young, talented singers.

This season is already bursting at the seams with excitement and possibility!"
